South Carolina Values You Believe In!
The Right to Life - Ken is pro-life meaning that he believes life is precious, begins at conception, and should be protected. In the past, pro-choice activists stated that their goal was for abortions to be safe and accessible, but rare and under certain circumstances only. In 2022, we are facing a moral crisis and mass murder on a scale never seen. Ken will fight for the Right to Life and going a step further, he will support initiatives to promote alternative options for expectant mothers. This includes holding government-funded adoption services to a higher standard and making it less of a financial burden on the adoptive parents to bring a child into a safe and loving home.
Religious Liberty - Amendment I of the United States Constitution makes it clear that we as human beings have the right to express ourselves without interference from the government. It also states that the government shall make no law establishing, or restricting, any one religion. Christians, in particular, have been under attack in this country for too long, believed to have a backward or outdated ideology by secular liberals. Ken will fight to protect that sacred right to religious liberty in Washington!
Private Property - One of the most amazing aspects of the “American Experiment,” is our Capitalist economic system. In a Capitalist society, individuals buy land and to a certain extent, enjoy certain property rights that the government cannot impede on. Socialists believe in abolishing ALL private property and having communal land, resources, and governorship. This is an anti-American philosophy and Ken stands with private property owners.
The Right to Keep and Bear Arms - Ken will fight to maintain the integrity of the Second Amendment. The right to bear arms is not a constitutional right, rather it is a human right not to be negotiated. There are many misconceptions about the scope of gun rights in the United States, but Ken agrees with George Washington in that “a free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”
Secure Borders - Ken supports our military and border patrol agents and believes we should make funding a priority. Closing the border creates a clear boundary where our country meets another. Additionally, illegal immigration and fentanyl being smuggled over the border is detrimental to all United States citizens and we must push for a complete and secure border.
Personal Responsibility - Our founding fathers included men of differing denominations, walks of life, and world views. Still, all believed in God our Creator who endowed us with certain inalienable rights. It is Ken’s belief that no government can legislate morality or hard work. God expects us to follow him of our own free will, and since our Constitution is based on these Godly principles, free will and personal responsibility go hand-in-hand. Ken believes that while we should provide the necessary resources for citizens trying to better themselves, it is ultimately up to the individual to improve their station in life.
Traditional Values - The lack of traditional values in the United States today is staggering. Our country has watched the breakdown of the nuclear family, infiltration of men in women’s sports, a declining work ethic, and a host of other issues that destroy the very fabric of what it means to be a good and productive society. Ken agrees with the Republican platform that traditional values are important and in decline, and he will work with other Republicans in Washington to protect those that also hold these values.
Limited/Constitutional Government and State Sovereignty - Ken considers himself a Constitutional Conservative, believing that powers not outlined in the Constitution for the federal government should be delegated to the state and local levels. It is becoming the norm for both Democrats and Republicans to campaign on legislation they will propose. There are thousands of laws and regulations currently on the books, and more are added to this regularly. In fact, the Library of Congress has admitted that there are so many laws, to the point that it is “nearly impossible” to find a total count. This was never the intention of the framers of our Constitution, and Ken will fight to cut unnecessary red tape and only propose meaningful and necessary legislation supported by his District.
